Tim Houghton
Trade and Investment Commissioner, Pacific and Timor-Leste
Tim is the Australian Trade Commissioner for the Pacific and Timor-Leste. He is based in Suva.
Tim leads a team of 2 Business Development Managers in Suva. They have a focus on Infrastructure and Food and Beverage opportunities. The team also responds to broader opportunities as they emerge, including developments in technology and energy.
Most recently, Tim was the Director, Strategy and Performance in the Office of Austrade’s CEO. He led organisation-wide projects promoting the government’s diversification agenda in South Asia, Southeast Asia and the Pacific. He was also posted in New Delhi to support the expansion of the organisation’s network in India in 2022. This included scoping 3 priority government programs valued at over A$15 million.
Prior to Austrade, Tim worked in professional services helping exporters plan their international growth strategies. He also ran his own business in the health sector.
Outside of work, Tim will make the most of his time in the Pacific Islands to expand his enjoyment of water sports.
