The information collected by Google Analytics during each visit is aggregated with similar logged information and published in reports so Austrade can identify patterns of usage by users on Austrade web sites. This assists us in improving the website and the content we provide users on it.

Social media

The Austrade websites also use interfaces with social media sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and others. If you are a member of a social media site, the interfaces may allow the social media site to connect your visits to this site with other personal information stored by the social media service provider.


Austrade uses Hotjar on Austrade websites to better understand users’ needs and to refine the websites with the aim of delivering content, services and a user experience that meets those needs.

Hotjar is a technology service that helps Austrade better understand our users’ behaviour whilst visiting an Austrade website (e.g. how much time they spend on which pages, which links they choose to click, what users do and don’t like, etc.). This enables us to utilise user feedback to develop, improve, and maintain our website offering.

Hotjar uses cookies and other technologies to collect data on our users’ behaviour and their devices (in particular, device's IP address (captured and stored only in anonymised form), device screen size, device type (unique device identifiers), browser information, geographic location (country only) and preferred language used to display our website). Neither Hotjar nor Austrade will use this information to identify individual users or to match it with further data on an individual user.
