COVID-19 is affecting many e-commerce businesses and how consumers shop online. In this difficult time, many brick-and-mortar retailers are watching foot traffic and sales drop to near zero. The most significant shift in consumer behaviour is happening in e-commerce globally. According to Rakuten Intelligence, order volume for online grocery retailers surged 210% from March 12th to 15th compared to the same period in 2019 in the US. Also according to insights from Austrade in India, a number of online grocery platforms such as Grofers and Big Basket reported 50% growth in order volume during the 2 weeks before the lock-down period. Similar growth in e-Commerce is reported in many other markets.
In the coming month, Austrade is working with a number of partners to share market insights on how COVID-19 has impacted cross border e-commerce in different aspects.
In this session, we invited Nathan Archie from Payoneer and Ashley Wales-Brown from Podean as our guest speakers. Together they will share with us:
- How COVID-19 has affected online marketplaces
- What are the opportunities and challenges with online markplaces and how it can fit in your export strategy
- How can you manage your logistic solutions with online marketplaces
- What are some of the policies you should be aware when working with online marketplaces
As part of ‘Team Australia’, Austrade is working closely with the network of government departments and industry agencies to help Australian businesses overcome complex and fast-evolving COVID-19 related challenges..
