FinTech Opportunities in Eastern and Southern Africa

About event:

With one of the fastest growing youthful populations in the world, Africa presents some of the most interesting FinTech opportunities. Join Austrade in discussing the trends, opportunities and growth prospects in FinTech, with experts from Kenya and South Africa who are leading these conversations.

The webinar is aimed at stakeholders across the FinTech sector in Australia who are keen to learn more about FinTech opportunities in East and South Africa.

More Fintech companies are leveraging technology to provide innovative financial services, including payment, lending, savings, financial advice and financial infrastructure, resulting in greater efficiency, better service and lowering of costs.

Africa is a global leader in mobile money, which has become an important component of Africa’s financial services landscape. Mobile network operators (MNOs) have dominated mobile money services in Africa for the past decade. The unbanked in Africa present the biggest opportunities for mobile banking technologies. The continent's low penetration rates for traditional banking services, coupled with high penetration of mobile smart phones, makes it a rich breeding ground for FinTech innovation, and in many respects the continent has been miles ahead of other developing – and most developed – markets.
