Australia-India Business Exchange 2020

The Australia-India Business Exchange (AIB-X) 2020 mission held from 23-28 February 2020, assisted 119 delegates from 87 Australian businesses and peak bodies to explore and initiate new export opportunities in India’s fast-growing consumer market.

Senator the Hon Simon Birmingham, Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, led the business mission which included 123 events over five days delivered in the cities of New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Colombo (Sri Lanka). The AIB-X sectoral programs were Education, Resources, Premium Australia – Food, Wine, Health & Beauty, and Infrastructure and Built Environment. 

The programs featured seminars, roundtables, site visits, showcases, client meetings and opportunities for networking with Indian businesses, industry and government officials. AIB-X also achieved a potential media reach of over 111.5 million across print, on-line and social platforms in India and Australia.

The majority of delegates surveyed after the mission stated they would be returning to India to pursue further export opportunities.

Minister Birmingham was joined by the Hon Martin Pakula MP, Minister for Jobs, Innovation and Trade, Government of Victoria, and the Hon Stuart Ayres MP, Minister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney, Government of New South Wales, the CEbOs of Austrade and Export Finance Australia, and the board of Tourism Australia - demonstrating the unquestionable strength of Australia's commitment to India.
