Born and raised in Melbourne, Paul’s first visit to China was on a scholarship to East China Normal University while undertaking a Diploma of Languages (Mandarin) at La Trobe University. Since then, Paul has worked and studied in Dalian, Beijing, and Taipei. 

Paul is a Trade and Investment Commissioner at the Australian Trade and Investment Commission’s Beijing Post at the Australian Embassy. Paul leads Austrade’s investment promotion and facilitation work across Mainland China. Paul previously worked for the North Asia and Investment section of Austrade in Canberra, the Landing Pad team in Melbourne, and Tourism Programs for the Approved Destination Status scheme – which allows Chinese tourists to travel to Australia in guided groups.

Paul joined Austrade in 2017 from the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development, where he worked on aviation security policy in the Office of Transport Security.

Paul holds a Bachelor of Business and a Master of Tourism from La Trobe University in Melbourne, a Graduate Certificate in Public Administration from the University of Canberra, and a Master of Enterprise Management from Renmin University of China.
