Transcript: A video case study on APT
>>Paul Kamphuis General Manager Polytan Asia Pacific: The nature of our business is installing sports fields. We do that throughout Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. So the North Asia Free Trade Agreements with China, Korea and Japan, they give us better access to those markets.
>>David Carpenter General Manager Yarn Operations APT Asia Pacific: There was always a massive tariff barrier and it limited the amount of product you could actually get in to the Japanese market. With the Free Trade Agreement now it’s brought it back to a level playing field so we can compete with the local industries and also be competitive with other companies.
>>Paul Kamphuis General Manager Polytan Asia Pacific: We’d like to pride ourselves on the quality of our work and our experience and our pedigree at an international level with elite tournaments like the Olympic Games. So having that reputation, coupled with a competitive-level playing field provides us with a big advantage and an exciting opportunity to enter into those markets more aggressively.
>>David Carpenter General Manager Yarn Operations APT Asia Pacific: With the Free Trade Agreement we’re expecting a 500 to 1,000 per cent increase in business.
>>Paul Kamphuis General Manager Polytan Asia Pacific: We’d like to think that there’s a real opportunity for Australian jobs. The more opportunity we can generate within the Asian market means we have more demands placed on our factory, means more manufacturing jobs and more service jobs.
