Seven Australian climate and sustainable technology scaleups travelled to Jakarta in June as part of Austrade’s Indonesia Landing Pad program.
The in-market program was anchored to the Global Sustainable Development Congress (GSDC) 2026, providing participants with a platform to showcase Australian capabilities and engage with key stakeholders supporting Indonesia’s net-zero ambitions.
Indonesia presents a compelling opportunity for climate solutions. Southeast Asia’s largest economy has committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2060 and attracts significant investment into clean energy and sustainability initiatives.
One such investment is the Australia-Indonesia Climate and Infrastructure Partnership (KINETIK), which has earmarked A$200 million from 2022 to 2027 to encourage clean energy investment. This momentum is creating demand for technologies that can support decarbonisation, improve supply chain transparency, strengthen ESG reporting and accelerate sustainable economic growth.
One of the strongest takeaways from the Landing Pads program was the clear alignment between Australia’s climate technology strengths and Indonesia’s evolving sustainability agenda. Discussions highlighted that climate technology adoption in Indonesia is being driven by regulatory requirements, investor expectations and international market demand.
Sustainability reporting obligations, decarbonisation commitments and emerging net zero roadmaps are creating opportunities for technology solutions that deliver measurable business outcomes. Areas of opportunity include emissions measurement and reporting, biodiversity intelligence, energy efficiency and industrial decarbonisation solutions.
Curated meetings provide better understanding of market needs
The climate and sustainability cohort was the fourth Landing Pads cohort to travel to Indonesia. They were supported by Austrade’s General Manager for Trade, Jason Verspuy; General Manager for Southeast Asia, Catherine Gallagher and Australia’s Ambassador to Indonesia H.E Rod Brazier.
During their time in Indonesia, delegates participated in more than 55 curated business meetings with prospective customers, partners, investors and ecosystem stakeholders in priority sectors for decarbonisation, including energy, finance, industrial, logistics and agribusiness. They showcased their expertise in carbon accounting, ESG reporting, biodiversity intelligence, supply chain monitoring and optimisation, and climate-focused digital platforms.
Australian climate tech scaleups showcased their innovations at the Global Sustainable Development Conference.
These interactions created opportunities for delegates to validate their solutions and deepen market understanding. The engagements made an impact, with participants generating more than 30 leads.

- discussions with Sinarmas, one of Indonesia's largest conglomerates
- visiting State Electricity Company/Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) Hydrogen Power Plant
- meeting Indonesia’s Chamber of Commerce Net Zero Hub to gain first-hand insights into Indonesia’s sustainability priorities and emerging market opportunities.
These engagements provided a practical understanding of government priority sectors and ways-of-doing-business in Indonesia.
