Summary

We commissioned a literature review-based study. The research asked: ‘How might we make the Australian visitor economy a preferred sector for the career of choice, while building competitiveness and resilience of participating businesses?’

Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, carried out the study through analysis of global and domestic approaches to workforce issues. The focus was on low-skilled and entry level employment, identifying 4 action areas:

  • improving employment conditions
  • investing in training
  • using unique business models
  • demonstrating positive business impact.
