The Gala is held annually by the Melbourne Entrepreneurial Centre on behalf of the University of Melbourne in partnership with Launch Vic, and has become Australia’s premier entrepreneurial event. This year, the Gala celebrated the Victorian medtech sector.

As part of Austrade’s commitment to Indigenous business, Landing Pads supported Victoria’s vibrant and burgeoning Indigenous founder community to attend the event. Indigenous business representatives and Austrade guests Isaac Harrison (Bunjil Energy), Morgan Coleman (Vets on Call) and Jadah Pleiter (Heart2Heart) represent start-ups in the renewables, tech and health industries. Indigenous businesses are growing on average by 12.5 per cent annually and are an important source of economic development and jobs for Indigenous Australians.

They were joined by successful Singapore Landing Pads graduate, Anatomics, a medtech company currently expanding into Asia and the Americas and by German medical and pharmaceutical firm B. Braun. The German firm is one of the world's leading providers and manufacturers of healthcare solutions today with approximately 63,700 employee in 64 countries.

The evening included presentations by Victorian founders, including Alexander Jannick of Acusensus, a transportation safety tech company, who spoke about his own personal experience with transport casualties and Austrade’s role in helping his company go global.
