Ron joined Austrade in December 2016 as a Trade Commissioner and Consul based in Hokkaido, Japan. In 2019 he moved to Seoul as Trade Commisser responsible for investment, R&E, DAMS, Infrastructure and the Mongolian Post.

Prior to Austrade, Ron had worked in the natural resources sector having commenced his professional career with ExxonMobil in Japan before taking on broader responsibilities in the Asian Pacific market based in Australia. He has since held senior roles in Japan and Australia in sales and marketing, product development, new investments and joint venture management for both Australian and Japanese companies. Most recently he was General Manager for J-Power Australia which has joint interests in four coal mines in Australia.

Ron holds an Honours degree in Science from the University of Tasmania, an MBA and also a Diploma of Mining Engineering from UNSW. Ron also gained his N1 Japanese language proficiency level when he studied at Hokkaido University.
