Sam Freeman
Trade and Investment Commissioner


Sam has joined Austrade as the Trade & Investment Commissioner – Benagaluru, having spent the last 10 years engaged with India through various private sector ventures.

Sam has extensive work experience in international trade and investment, having lived and worked in India full time since 2014. During this time Sam held various Senior Executive level roles in international organisations, managing the set up and operation of these entities, as they entered the market for the first time. Sam helped sculpt market entry strategy, localize operating procedures, hired thousands of staff and oversaw the investment of millions of dollars of FDI into India.

Sam has also worked on projects across Indonesia, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and other countries.

Sam has been recognised for his achievements in the Australia-India bilateral relationship, as a member of the Australia India Youth Dialogue and at the India Australia Business & Community Awards.

Sam holds a graduate degree from the Griffith University, Brisbane. He has a strong passion for cricket, baseball and golf and is actively involved in several social sporting clubs in India and Australia. Sam is supported by his wife Hannah.
